PRESENT “MOVIE IN THE COMMONS” EVENTS
Saturday, June 29 at 9 pm
Parma Heights – Bring your blankets, chairs, food and drink (no alcoholic beverages) and enjoy ParaNorman under the moon and stars in the Greenbrier Commons on Saturday, June 29th, beginning at 9:00 p.m. courtesy of the City of Parma Heights and Cox Cable.
“The “Movie in the Commons” has been a popular summer event ever since we tried it during our Centennial Celebration a couple of years ago,” explained Mayor Michael P. Byrne. “That movie was brought indoors to the N.E.O. Soccer Facility due to the threat of rain, a plan also in place for this year’s event.”
ParaNorman is an animated comedy that follows the adventures of a boy named Norman Babcock who uses his ability to speak with the dead to take on zombies and save his town from an age-old curse. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2012 and earned $107 million at the box office. The film features the voices of Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Bernard Hill, and Anna Kendrick. ParaNorman is the first stop-motion film to use a 3D color printer to create the character faces, and only the second stop-motion film to be shot in 3D.
According to Recreation Director Tom Moran, a second “Movie In The Commons” is planned for the night of Friday, August 9th, during the Weekend-In-The-Commons celebration. The feature that evening will be the animated comedy, “CLOUDY with a chance of MEATBALLS”.
